Instead of a singular history, the existing structures on this site represent over a hundred years of continual transformations brought on by changes in zoning regulations, inhabitation patterns, and economic relationships. Our solution is to extend these multiple narratives while embracing the civic and economic evolution of Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge's main artery. As the new mixed-use program encourages a vital adaptive reuse of existing fabric, the addition of a new vertical structure embodies this area's developing future, creating a building that both looks outward and is an urban character to be looked upon.
