Aaron Todd Sellinger - Materials Science and Engineering- Ph.D. Candidate


Aaron is currently working on using matrix assisted pulsed laser evaporation (MAPLE) to deposit polymer-matrix carbon nanotube (CNT) nanocomposites. Working in conjunction with Professor Leonard Zhigilei’s group, a computational model illustrating laser/matrix interactions during deposition of nanocomposite films is also being formulated to aid in the prediction of ideal MAPLE operating parameters. The primary objectives of this research are to further illuminate the fundamental mechanisms underlying “laser-driven matrix-assisted entrainment of polymer molecules and nanoscale elements”; and to employ these findings to develop and optimize a novel technique for depositing “polymer-matrix nanocomposite thin films and coatings”.
