Darrell Gullatt - Engineering Physics – M.S. Candidate
Darrell is currently working on the formation of silicon carbide by laser irradiation. A KrF excimer laser is being used to irradiate silicon wafers that have been coated with carbon. The energy of the laser will cause the two materials to react and form nanocrystals of SiC. Proper laser and sample parameters (laser fluence, carbon layer thickness, etc), as well as optimal characterization techniques are currently being investigated.
