Gender Composition of Students and Faculty

Gender composition is a demographic feature that can affect turnover. Each department's gender composition was measured for its students and faculty. The female proportion of all declared majors represents the student gender composition; and the female proportion of the faculty represents the faculty gender composition.

Data for calculating student gender composition was provided by the State Council for Higher Education in Virginia (SCHEV).

The gender composition variables were calculated in the following manner.
