We are pleased to announce our 5th biannual BTP Symposium, taking place May 5-6, 2011. This exciting event celebrates the ways biotechnologies contribute to solving contemporary challenges from molecular to human scales.

Our speakers come from a wide range of disciplines, showcasing innovations in areas such as

super-resolution microscopy
DNA Computing
multiplexed protein quantification
the synthetic cell
organ morphogenesis
whole-animal imaging
technologies for global health
genetically-modified food

BTP Mission

To bring together a diverse community of biomedical research and engineering students to foster translational science by

  1. (i)supporting student scientific training

  2. (ii) providing opportunities for 2 - 3 month industrial work experiences

  3. (iii) promoting synergy among disciplines through student presentations, seminars and symposia

Since 2000, over 50 students have trained or are currently training in the BTP from home departments in Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Pathology, Physiology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Systems Engineering.
