Carrier Dynamics



This section of the Ultrafast Laser lab is dedicated to developing optical pump-probe techniques to better understand the thermal transport in thin metal films and the transient carrier dynamics of crystalline and amorphous semiconductor films. Current research projects include measuring:

1. Recombination and thermalization rates in intrinsic, doped and alloyed a-Si:H films which are used by the photovoltaic industry.
2. Hot electron relaxation in InP films used in optoelectronics.
3. Thermal conductivity, film thickness, electron phonon coupling factor of thin metallic films.
4. Thermal boundary resistance of thin metallic film structures.
