The  Firebird and the Factory: Modern Russian Children's Books

Our guest lecturer Kelly Miller, Ph.D., is interested in hearing your responses to these reading questions:

  1. How do the assigned Russian children's books connect to your earlier discussions this semester about the purpose and functions of children's literature?
  2. How do these books *challenge* assumptions about children's literature that you have made thus far?
  3. What surprises you or, conversely, seems familiar to you about these books?

If you are planning to write a reading response, please incorporate a reaction to at least one of these questions into your posting. If you are not planning on writing a response, please take notes while you read and come prepared to resond to the questions in class.
