Sacred Harp hymns, a form of shape note music, are religious or spiritual songs with music that is written with notes of varying shapes, according to their place on the scale.

It is always sung a capella, and has a distinctive, modal sound- very rich in feeling and often very exuberant.

A singing is very much a participatory instead of a performance event although visitors are welcome to just listen.

All singers are welcome, no experience is necessary.

We invite you to be a part of a singing tradition that goes back to the 18th century in New England, but that is particularly thriving in communities in the South.
