Recommendation:

UVa needs a publication that would highlight the innovative work currently being done in digital media in a variety of fields. Unlike such award winning publications as Revealing Possibilities, however, this series would be continuously updated, flexible and dynamic. Conceived as a pocket folder into which you could put any and all relevant documents, it would have a multitude of uses, as outlined below.

Innovative courses developed through the TTI program have made UVa a national leader in this dynamic area. Likewise, in the research areas, faculty members are leading several fields both nationally and internationally.

Although UVa is a recognized leader in digital technologies, it is not getting all the recognition it deserves. This publication series would help correct that situation.

In the same way, our internal communication could be strengthened. We struggle to communicate effectively within the UVa community about what we are doing here, what our services are and how they are evolving. This publication would give all of us who support aspects of this effort a consistent set of documents and a forum for communicating internally.

Uses of the Series:

• Development (TTI brochure was heavily used by Development professionals)
• Grant seeking (all the faculty projects will benefit from additional grant funds.)
• Conferences (Many of these faculty projects are being presented at professional conferences.)
• Internal Communication/presentations (We are continually explaining our programs to internal faculty audiences)
• External Communication/presentations (We are regularly asked to give tours of our facilities and to explain our programs to colleagues, interested faculty and for publishers [e.g. USA today.]

Recommended Procedure:
