The University of Virginia is located 110 miles southwest of Washington D.C. and 68 miles west of Richmond in Charlottesville, VA.

The city of Charlottesville is served by five airports:

Two trains — the Crescent (New York to New Orleans) and the Cardinal (New York to Chicago) — stop daily at Charlottesville’s Amtrak station, which, is about a half-mile from the University. There is also Greyhound bus service from Washington, D.C.

  • UVa maintains a list of other places to stay in Charlottesville. Travelers on a tight budget might investigate the Red Roof Inn on Main Street or the Budget Inn on Emmett Street, both of which are close to campus.
