Hi there, I'm Michael van den Bossche. I was born on the other side of the pond in the Netherlands. At the age of 18 I decided to make myself useful, so I studied Chemical Engineering in Enschede (NL) at the University of Twente. There I completed my M.S. Thesis 'Ordering of oxygen vacancies in iron-doped calcium titanate', under the supervision of Dr. McIntosh and Dr. Henny Bouwmeester. After finishing my M.S. studies I took a plane heading to the U.S.A., more precisely the lovely state of Virginia, to start my Ph.D. studies.

Whenever I’m not studying here I’m probably busy playing metal songs on my electrical guitar, swimming (not at the same time though) or going out with friends. Furthermore, I like listening to some decent music or reading a good book.
