Problem statements
Identify/Generate the principle
Time: 15 minutes
Choose a reading related to your theme that lays out the parts
of the problem statement, but not in the first paragraph, but over
the course of the entire article. (General interest magazines like
The Atlantic Monthly and Harper's are good sources for this kind
of writing.) Assign the reading as prep.
Ask students, in class or as prep, to write introductory problem
statements as if they were re-writing the article for ENWR. Share
results as a class.
