We have positions available in the laboratory for:

POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWS / RESEARCH ASSOCIATES

University of Virginia Research Associate
Signal Transduction and Cell Biology of Tumor Metastasis
Postdoctoral position as a research associate is available immediately to study the role of Ral, Rho and related proteins in cell migration and metastasis. We have recently identified RhoGDI2 as a novel metastasis suppressor gene that regulates a cancer cell’s ability to form lung metastasis by virtue of its regulation of downstream targets such as Endothelin-1. Molecular, cellular, and genetic approaches are being employed to define the molecular mechanisms whereby the RhoGDI2 and associated binding partners affect the metastatic phenotype. In addition, we are also examining the role of Ral family proteins in metastasis and cellular migration. This project will be undertaken in collaboration with the laboratory of Dr. Martin Schwartz, a leader in Integrin and GTPase cell biology at the University of Virginia.

Candidates should have an outstanding record in graduate school. Excellent skills in oral and written English and the ability to work independently are required. Candidates with a recent PhD degree in the areas of cancer biology, biochemistry/proteomics and the cell biology of cytoskeletal dynamics are preferred. This position provides an excellent opportunity to a highly motivated individual to work in a supportive collaborative environment and prepares the applicant for a career in basic as well as translational cancer research. Please send letter of application, curriculum vitae, and the names and e-mail addresses of three references to:
