My
clinical research interests extend to several
areas of urologic cancer, but are especially focused
on
prostate
and
bladder
cancer. We have several ongoing research efforts
directed at the development of novel prostate and
bladder tumor markers. These include both
translational projects in collaboration with the
Departments of Pathology and Public Health
Sciences and multi-institutional clinical trials.
In addition, we are studying the quality of life
outcomes following radical surgery and
radiotherapy for prostate cancer and the use of
alternative medicine in these patients.
Clinical Research in Prostate Cancer In addition to my laboratory / basic science interests, I have an interest in translational and clinical research as pertains to prostate cancer. We have ongoing research efforts directed at the evaluation of molecular prognostic markers of cancers. In addition, we are studying the quality of life outcomes following radical surgery and brachytherapy for prostate cancer. Many of these projects complement well my basic science (laboratory) research. Complete Publications List on PUBMED.
Clinical Research in Bladder Cancer In addition to my laboratory / basic science interests, I have interests in clinical research as pertains to bladder cancer. We have ongoing research efforts directed at the evaluation of prognostic markers of bladder cancer progression in collaboration with the Department of Pathology. In addition, we are interested in developing novel modifications to the orthotopic neobladder operation to increase its availability to a larger number of patients and lessen its side effects. Some of these projects complement well my basic science (laboratory) research. Complete Publications List on PUBMED.
