I majored in chemistry at Kenyon College.  I spent two undergraduate summers doing organic synthesis and Johns' Hopkins synthesizing potential anti-bacterial compounds.  I always knew I was interested in biomedical research and decided to join the Molecular Medicine Progam. After hearing Dr. Yan speak at a seminar, I decided to rotate in his lab to study the functional importance of autophagy in striated muscle function.
