I am a third year undergraduate student majoring in Biochemistry and minoring in Economics. I was born in Nepal, a small country between the massive Indian and Chinese empires. Despite being surrounded by developmental activities Nepal has been quite underdeveloped for a long period of time. Healthcare is one of the many areas that need attention. As cheesy as it sounds, this is why I aspire to become a doctor so I can bring about changes and assist those who are not privileged. Even though these are early days, I believe that an experience at the Yan laboratory, in studying ER ( Sarcoplasmic Reticulum) stress in skeletal muscle will help me further understand the various disease conditions that take place in skeletal muscle cells. Currently, I am working under Rhianna Laker, Ph.D on this project and I am excited about the results and implications.
